AW, THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE.
While checking my e-mail Thursday, I noticed that one of the items was from facebook, saying Bogner had sent me a message. I had just come from checking my facebook and didn't see any message from Bogner. Weird.
The message from Bogner: "Look at mygener.im" What the hell, I thought. Do I have a fan Web site? Is this another one of those critiquing sites like Poolside with Bawb Wardlaw?
Turns out, that mygener.im is a virus on facebook. Holy crap! My uptown friends, as I call them, have been calling me Gener for a number of years, and now it's incorporated into a virus stealing information from people's facebook accounts.
Having not heard of such a virus, I did some quick reading on it. Mygener.im, which is a much cooler name than its virus cousin Koobface, sends messages such as: "Check out this hot new site mygener.im." The explanation to avoid this virus sounded simple enough. It seems like you'd have to be a real idiot to get infected by this virus.
Hey, what are they trying to say about me?
THE TINA CURSING CORNER
My mom enjoyed reading the story in the paper about a crawfish boiler causing a three-alarm fire and burning parts of three businesses in Metairie. "Fucking pet store, too. I bet Veterans was in fucking chaos yesterday." Then, later on. "Veterans must have been fucked. Somebody must have lit that thing high to burn three fucking buildings."
Mom takes in the heat from Thursday. "We in for one hot motherfucking ... " I think she was going to say summer.
Mom plans to clean the dining room next. "Not looking forward to it. Nine fucking windows. And then we gonna tackle your two fucking rooms."
Mom is upset with herself as she starts to watch the American Idol results show. "I just realized I could be voting and use some of these fucking minutes." (This is her first season with a phone plan. Before, she paid by the minute.)
Mom is disgusted with American Idol kicking off the girl (I don't know her name) in fourth place. "Fuck me! Fuck me. Motherfuck me! Son of a bitch. ... Son of a bitch! I'm so fucking pissed!"
PARTING SHOTS
JRap gives Jelly some advice at dinner.
JRap: You should get a hat that says, 'Don't fuck with me,' and wear it in here.
Me: That's inappropriate.
JRap: What? A woman wearing a hat to work?
Jelly asks Brick if he likes wearing pink.
Brick: In high school, I had a ...
JRap and Me (interrupting): A pink Cadillac?
THE DAILY TOP LIST
My favorite 15 catchphrases by Some Sexy Black Guy. Or as Liam calls 'em, Marcus-isms.
15) Allegedly.
For when someone is accused of something. Not just crimes. Anything.
14) You on your way!
It's his way of giving us a treat when we do something well.
13) Shut up, Gene.
He's not the only one who uses this one.
12) Gee-whiz!
Out of disgust.
11) Hey _ , stand up over there. (Shows that he can't see person.) Oh. You are standing.
His way of calling somebody short. Guess who this is mostly aimed at?
10) Do goobs / Do blogs.
When those words are said, it's the end of the shift.
9) So, D. Would you rather be ... ?
He then gives D two horrible options. They debate their answers for the next hour.
8) Hey Liam, hit Gene for me.
For when I really piss him off. Either that line or he crumbles up a piece of paper and fires it at me.
7) And One!
Whenever a basketball players goes to the goal and shoots. (Instead of And one, I prefer to say: a little H&H -- hoop and harm.)
6) Hey _ , wake up over there.
At least once a night, usually to someone on the prep crew.
5) So, what's wrong with that?
Quickly becoming his favorite phrase. Used as sarcasm when something is obviously incorrect or egregious.
4) Ya killin' me.
I get that a lot.
3) Put your ski mask on.
When Marcus tells you that, you know it's going to be an easy night. It implies that you are stealing money because there's not a lot of work to do.
2) That's why you don't race a giraffe in the Kentucky Derby.
Used as a response when something goes wrong.
1) Ballgame. Thanks for coming.
This has become such a part of the lexicon at work that I can't watch any sporting event now without thinking this during the game. The BGTFC moment is the moment when you know the game is over and the team trailing has no shot at rallying.
