I had crawfish for the first time this season Wednesday. They were a cheap $4.79 a pound. The good news is that they weren't small or hard. Not great for the ladies but damn tasty for me.
It's Super Bowl hype time. I have a policy in the two weeks leading up to the big game. It's a no media policy. I hate Super Bowl coverage. Can't stand it. I read and watch football coverage like nobody's business during the season and playoffs. But Super Bowl? I tune it all out and just let the game happen. Even during the Saints Super Bowl I didn't read shit.
Kelly made Paul and Leigh a thingamabob to display in their house for Leigh's shower. Bert put in the nails, and I held the board in place and helped with the measuring for positioning the letters. So consider this part of my wedding gift.
I went to the Pelicans-Rockets game last Wednesday. The halftime show was some strange. It was -- depending on whose guess is right -- dancing horses, lions or dragons. I'm not sure what the fuck was going on. But I may have changed religions during this, uh, spectacle.
One was blue and one was yellow. There was also some type of band.
THE TINA CURSING CORNER
My mom says she saw something close to snow Friday morning. "I heard something. I look. It's fucking sleeting."
I tell mom that this won't be the year I go to Jazz Fest for the first time, partly because I'll be working. "You take off to watch a fucking game. You can take off for that."
Mom says the food is good at Jazz Fest. "It's hard to pick from all that fucking food."
I get fitted for my tux for Paul's wedding and tell mom that the owner was in my high school class. "Somebody you graduated with owns that fucking place? ... No shit."
Mom's Cox bill went way up. "Jesus fucking Christ. I'm fucked."
SHE LOVES YOU YA YA YA
I saw Rain, a tribute to the Beatles. Some thoughts.
-- I thought Act I was superior to Act II, which had too many psychedelic offerings. The first part had all the love songs.
-- The two best performances were Yesterday and While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
-- I guessed the last song would be Hey Jude. And it was. The audience got to sing the chorus. That was a ball.
-- I danced to Twist and Shout. Fun.
-- The multiple wardrobe changes were awesome. My favorites were boy band suits and Sgt. Peppers multicolor outfits.
-- The banter in between songs was fabulous. There just wasn't enough of it. I could have gone for more bits with Paul and John.
-- Can I now say I've seen the Beatles in concert?
