HORNETS RULE. SPURS DROOL.

Wednesday night was Game 3 of my 10-game package. But it wasn't just any game. Oh, no, no, no. It was against the San Antonio "rip-out-your-heart" Spurs. It was the first game against those bastards since that stomach-punch Game 7 back on May 19 in the conference semifinals.

My 10-game package seats are in the same section where I watched Game 7. I tried not to think about Game 7 on Wednesday night. Only good thoughts, Gene, I told myself. Only good thoughts. The Big 3 of the Spurs (part of my sports villains Top 5) played well, but we still found a way to win. So, suck on that, you sons of bitches.

Theresa Andersson provided the pregame entertainment (as well as singing the national anthem). Me like-a some Theresa. She performed without shoes on. My kind of gal.

I went to the game with David, who drove in from Baton Rouge for the action. It is my goal to take someone different to all 10 of my games. Just need to find seven more willing souls.

The Buzz Patrol was dancing around during Theresa's set, and David turns to me and says: "Look at this. They have coordinated dance moves. These people have way too much time on their hands." He's right. But what a job. You get to go to the games for free, and they basically pay you to run around like a freaking animal for two and a half hours. Where do I sign up?

The Get-Your-Buzz-On beer vendor made an appearance in our section. Remember he screams that phrase (it has two meanings) every five seconds to sell beer. I got him Wednesday, though. I saw him walking up the steps to our section and beat him to the punch by a second. I screamed (with him saying it right behind me): "Get your buzz on!" About 15 people in seats close to me thought it was hysterical.

Some game notes.
1) Well, lookie here. They didn't double team Tim Duncan down the stretch, and Tyson kicked his ass. See that, Byron. If you do that in the playoffs, you would have won.

2) I had popcorn for this game. I had a big meal right before I left, so I just needed a snack.

3) Matt Bonner was big for us Wednesday. We never would have won if he didn't miss so many wide open shots. Yet he didn't win M-V-Bee of the game honors. That's a travesty.

4) I've never heard a louder cheer in the first half of any game in my life than when Paul got his steals record. I mean as soon as he deflected the ball, the crowd rose and went nuts. It carried all the way through the next possession and the pause in the action to acknowledge the record.

I was so caught up in the moment, I didn't even think to take a picture of CP3 waving to the crowd. It was special. If you didn't know any better, you would have thought the Hornets won a playoff game. (In the fourth quarter, the noise level reminded me of Game 7 last year.)

5) David and I came up with a nickname for Devin Brown. Money Brown. It's funny because he's not money. He sucks. To me, he is forever Money Brown. David and I started making jokes late in the fourth quarter like, "Hey, Byron. Put Money back in the game. He's so Money."

I've actually got into arguments about Money Brown. What does anyone see in him? He missed several wide open shots. He drove out of control to the goal several times. He scares the shit out of me when he gets the ball. He doesn't help spread the floor (the key to the Wasps' offense). But he does have a cool nickname now. Money Brown, baby. Money Brown.

The huddle after Posey's dagger 3 with 1:06 remaining that put the Hornets up 85-79. The shot capped a 13-0 run that led the Wasps to victory. An assistant coach is pointing something out to Byron on the other side of the court. "Hey, Byron. We got this game wrapped up. Let me show you something. You see that hunny in the third row behind the goal at the end? Yeah. I'm banging her tonight."

As for the Posey play, I saw it coming the whole time. Duncan had just missed, and Paul pushes the ball up court with the Hornets up 3 and holding all the momentum. I lean over to David: "Posey 3-ball right here."

I then focus my attention on Posey. He starts off on the wing from the right side. Then, he sprints diagonally to the left corner. His man gets lost in the traffic as Paul begins to penetrate. Paul stops in the lane, turns and flips it to the left wing, where Posey had begin drifting. Clearly, this was the plan the whole play. Posey's man hadn't recovered.

As the ball was in mid-air from Paul's hands to Posey's, I yelled, "Ballgame" and started cheering like crazy. I didn't have to watch Posey shoot and the ball rip through the net. I already knew. Posey don't be missing clutch shots, yo.

Oh, and I left my free gold towel under my seat on accident. I completely forgot about it. I didn't wave it once during the game. You see, I don't believe in that sort of thing. Towel waving. Thunder sticks. Doesn't do it for me. I like to yell. It was a nice towel, though.

THE TINA CURSING CORNER

I'm in the kitchen, and my mom is in the back of the house. I don't know what she was yelling about, and I didn't find out. "Are you kidding me? Jesus fucking Christ. This kid makes no sense at all."

Mom has Christmas music playing pretty loud as I'm eating lunch. I'm also watching TV. She gets mad because I can't understand what she just said. "Jesus, Gene. Get a fucking life. You're so fucking zoned in to what you're doing, you don't see what's going on around you."

The radio station playing the Christmas music goes to commercial. The first one is for a jewelry store. "The price of fucking gold is skyrocketing. The fucking markup at the store is already like 200 percent."

The next commercial is for some battery store on Vets. "Who thought of that? A store that sells batteries. Must be making a fucking fortune."

Mom asks me if I know anything about the movie "The Wrestler" that comes out in January starring Mickey Rourke. I say I most certainly do. "He hasn't been in a movie in 20 years. (Not true.) Since him and Kim Basinger did all that fucking. There was food sex on the floor next to the refrigerator. I saw pictures of him (for 'The Wrestler'). He's all beat up because he really got in the fucking ring to box."

FOUR CORNERS
A closer look at The Gene Pool world

-- My car hit 10,000 miles Saturday. So far, so good.

-- I have a lunch bet with Lopes that's coming down to the wire. Though I think I have the advantage at the moment. We made the wager back in like Week 3. He has that both wild-card teams in the NFC will come from the East. I bet that that won't happen.

Here's the most logical scenario for Lopes to win: (By the way, we're going to Hooters.)
Cowboys over Ravens (Week 16)
Eagles over Redskins (Week 16)
Eagles over Cowboys (Week 17)
Falcons lose one of two final games
Bucs lose one of two final games

-- It looks like Internet malfunction is going to win the poll for the reason that eventually ends my blogging streak. That did seem like the logical pick. Personally, I voted for "I get really busy one day and forget." Only one of the other 19 voters joined me in that selection.

Mom always says I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached to my shoulders. Why couldn't I forgot this at some point?

-- A few times a week on the drive home (usually after midnight), I play a DVD on my portable player. I listen with one ear and glance over at the screen every so often. Is this illegal?

PARTING SHOTS
Liam explains to me that he doesn't care if the publisher of the T-P is in the building or not.

Liam: That fucker wouldn't know me if I killed his wife.

There is a discussion not involving me, and I chime in to try to explain some things.

JRap: Who the fuck are you? Maury Povich?

THE DAILY TOP LIST
The rest of my Top 10 TV duos.

5) Corey and Sean. Boy Meets World.
Their adventures taught me life lessons as a lad.

4) Shawn and Gus. Psych.
The banter between this crime-fighting team carries the show.

3) Norm and Cliff. Cheers.
Can you imagine life just sitting in one spot and hardly ever moving?

2) Chandler and Joey. Friends.
Their friendship was threatened several times, but it was nothing that a make-you-cry-hug moment couldn't fix.

1) J.D. and Turk. Scrubs.
They are so close, Carla sometimes wonders if they should be the married ones.
