If the rumors are true, the Oklahoma City NBA team will be called the Thunder. As you may know, that was my nickname for Richard. Well, it was short for Thunder Lips, but still. Richard's apparel will soon be selling like hotcakes in Oklahoma City. Who wants to chip in and buy all kind of Thunder stuff and send it to City Park?
I'M DREAMING OF A BLOG ITEM
Apparently, the blog has been on my mind lately. The past two nights I've had a dream where I said to somebody: "I'm putting that in my blog." When I wake up, it pops in my head to remember to put the story in my blog, but then I realize that it happened in my dream. What was I thinking? Paul and I could never become world tag team champions.
My mom has also been cursing at me in my dreams, and I think to myself in the dream that I have to write the quote down so I don't forget to put it in the blog. She yelled at me last night in my dream: "Get your fucking life together." Or did that really happen while I was half-awake? Hmmm.
THE TINA CURSING CORNER
Mom was making porkchops today. She prematurely thought the stove was heated. "Goddamit. I thought it was hot. Fuck."
DOES ANYBODY BLOG IN ENGLISH?
This site wouldn't let me log on last night to start a new blog entry, so I went through some other blogs on the site, hoping to find something entertaining. Some of the 20 blogs I went through might have been, but I wouldn't know. You see, none of them were in English. Apparently, blogspot has a large foreign contingent.
WITH THE RISING COST OF FUEL
In the past couple of months, I have grown tired of reading this phrase. That phrase has been this year's version of "before the storm" and "after/since the storm." I felt like I was reading one story a day on increasing gas prices and how people were adjusting. There
THE ONLY-JUST CONNECTION
Other words that truly irritate me are only and just, when just can be substituted for only. These words are not needed and sometimes add an unneeded opinion to a sentence. He allowed just/only two runs in six innings. I just/only need five more dollars for dinner. That rant lasted only four sentences. I'm just saying.
PARTING SHOT
Marcus and Terry are discussing what page to move an ad to.
Terry: Just tell me where you want me to put it.
Brick: Marcus, this is your chance.
A CORRECTION TO A TOP LIST
I did a list on the top 5 things I have stolen. I made the comment about No. 4 that the Wendy's tray was there because I needed to fill the list. Today I remembered something better for that spot. As with the other stolen items on the list, the incident took place in high school.
In senior year, we didn't get along too well with Brother Martin's soccer team. In the regular season, both of our matches went to shootouts, with each team winning one. In the aftermath of the shootout at Brother Martin, I casually picked up one of their soccer balls and tossed it over the fence by our bus. I picked it up as we were leaving and still have it in my garage today. And yeah yeah, that was the shootout we lost. I was bitter. Big deal. It's a nice soccer ball. Has Brother Martin's logo on it and everything.
THE DAILY TOP LIST
The top 5 losses by one of my teams that took place in the regular season.
5) Rockets vs. Celtics. 2008.
Rockets had a five-point lead late in the second quarter. The Boston win ended Houston's 22-game winning streak.
4) Saints vs. the last three games in 2002
The Saints had a 9-4 record and needed one more win to make the playoffs. But lost by one point to the Vikings on a Culpepper scramble and then to the Bengals and Panthers, who were both god-awful.
3) LSU vs. Tennessee. 2005.
I watched this one at Mellow Mushroom We thought it was over at halftime with a 21-0 lead. The game was moved to Monday night after Hurricane Rita. A nightmare of a comeback by the Vols.
2) North Carolina vs. Duke. 2005.
The Heels did win the title that year, but losing to the Blue Devils always stings. The Lawson-McCants-May was special to me because we are in the same class. UNC had a last-second chance to win, but the play failed badly.
1) Dolphins vs. Jets. Nov. 11, 2000.
The Fish had a 30-7 lead entering the fourth quarter, scored a touchdown in the fourth and still lost. This was so embarassing. And so hard to watch. I hate the goddamn Jets.
