THE MADNESS CONTINUES.

The second day of March Madness produced these thoughts.

1) COMMERCIALS: Two commercials made my day. a) I found out that it was still our country from Chevy. I had long since given up on this. I thought it was somebody else's country. Whew.

b) Nothing says it's the NCAA Tournament like hearing Jim Nantz utter these historic words: "A tradition unlike any other. The Masters on CBS." Oh, the joy that brings to my heart.

2) QUOTE OF THE DAY: During the Dayton-West Virginia, color guy Len Elmore is talking about how well the Big East is doing. Elmore: "As expected, they (Marquette) had an unexpectedly tough game against Utah State." (I rewatched this part five times to make sure he actually said that. He did all five times.)

3) OPRAH: After the 2 p.m. games, Oprah came on. Probably the only time you'll catch anyone from the sports desk watching Oprah. At least I hope so.

4) CBS STILL SUCKS: So, Pittsburgh received a scare today from East Tennessee State. Pittsburgh is a No. 1 seed, and no No. 1 seed as ever lost. It has come close to happening twice as far as I can remember until Thursday. Pittsburgh won by 10, but for most of the game it was two points. And how much of this game did I see on CBS? Uh, none. That's horrible.

5) STAR OF THE DAY: Siena-Ohio State and Florida State-Wisconsin. Let's be honest. The first two days of games weren't too exciting. March Madness saved its best for late, with two overtime games in the final games of the first round. For that, I thank the players.

THE TINA CURSING CORNER

My mom and I are talking, and she gives me a piece of information.
Me: I told you that the other day.
Mom: You have so much bullshit when you talk, I can't keep up.

We're watching Lie to Me (good show), and FOX shows an add for the new Osbournes show. "What the fuck is this?"

We got the first disc of Season 2 of Lost from Netflix. It has four episodes in just under three hours. Mom wishes it was longer. "They must have had some fucking commercials."

THE GENE POOL DIP (I MEAN TIP) OF THE WEEK

I got my first check with Obama's stimulus raise. It wasn't $13, but it added $10.24 to my pay. Thanks, Barack. First, you pick the Heels and now this.

So, we're supposed to spend the extra money, and that's my tip to you this week. Put your extra money back into the economy. That's what it is there for. For our part, the T-P sports department is thinking of heading to Harrah's, pooling our stimulus money and putting it all on black.

If it hits, we get a lavish dinner. If it doesn't, our money just went back into the economy. Win-win.

PARTING SHOT
Mike is actually talking about Page 2. Remember also that Mike and Derry were once proclaimed partners.

Mike: Brick was gonna give it to me tonight.
Liam: Does Derry know about this?
(This led to a discussion about Barney. Yeah. The big purple dinosaur.)
