After sleeping for most of the day Wednesday to ketchup from time lost in Houston, I headed Uptown for April's Yat-Together. Amanda chose this month, and she chose wisely. Take a look at the outside view of Cafe Rani. Beautiful stuff.
Kevin told us of his trip to Charleston, calling it "The French Quarter meets Disney World." Bode recently finished writing a jazz thingy, which sounded like quite the undertaking. It's basically one 50-minute song. Amanda admitted to being fooled by my April Fool's entry. Ha. Kelli and I discussed having the House twist spoiled for us. Stephen is excited about his trip to Atlanta to see the Braves.
Greg provided most of the comedy. While discussing a story about a girl flirting, we all mishear Greg.
Greg (what we heard): Maybe that was to have sex.
Us: What? Are you crazy?
Greg: What's the big deal?
Someone: Uh. What did you just say?
Greg: All I said was: Maybe that was the ex.
When the check arrived, Amanda pulled out several one-dollar bills, and Greg said: You been dancing, huh?
I ordered the eggplant rani, which sounded delicious. Amanda was threatening to take a bite of it. (Of course, she threatened to do that to everyone's plate.) Twenty minutes after making the order, however, the waitress came back to our table to inform me that they didn't have that tonight. Well, shit.
Instead, I went with the pesto crusted chicken. I was thinking about ordering that at first, but I went with the safer bet in the eggplant rani. The dish had a bit of a kick to it, and I ate the whole thing.
Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. Cafe Rani gets the Y-T stamp of approval. Huge.
THE TINA CURSING CORNER
I wake up and enter the living room. Me: What's up, momma?
Mom: What's up? I'm fucking tired. That's what's up.
Mom is pissed at the animal nature of the neighbors. "These people need to move to Folsom. There, they can have all the room they want for their fucking tractor trailer or whatever."
Mom mentioned in the early afternoon that before I left for work I needed to get something for her from the attic. Two hours later, I was ready.

Me: Attic.
Mom: What?
Me: Attic.
Mom: What?
Me: I'm ready for the A-T-T-I-C. At-tic.
Mom: Oh. I didn't know what the fuck you were saying.
I'm watching House. Mom is confused by the names of two characters. I explain the difference in pronunciation of Cuddy and Kutner. "Oh. I was so fucking confused the other day."

I was in charge of blogging the Zephyrs story Friday night. I forgot to put the score in there. Oops. A nola.com reader wasn't too happy with my effort in the comment section.
Widewater: "What is the final score? Find a sober writer to fix this copy. ... Oh, and how many people were murdered yesterday? Was it 2 or 10? Should we believe anything in this rag?"
