This is the exciting conclusion to my chugging. Apparently, I'm not too bad at this. I feel as though I did it relatively fast. But I'm not sure. Hey, this is a college reunion of sorts. We might as well do college things. Next month, bring your blue books, kids.
Dear Pizza, meet your maker. This
large, spicy chicken pizza was no match for Stephen on Wednesday. Sure, he didn't eat all of the crust. But the feat was most impressive. I had a small pizza and brought home two pieces. I did feel bad for Kelli. She had to go home with him, and that thing was loaded with garlic.
AMY AND THEO HANGING IN GREECE ...
The two-year Yat-Together anniversary was Wednesday, and I thought it went really well. Everyone in town besides Greg made it out there. Though he did call me when it was over for details on the big story. After the small talk and catching up ended, we all sat back and took in the explanation from Amy on her surprising engagement. Here's how she bit the proverbial dust:
How do you think I'm going to get along,
Without you, when you're gone
The fiance is a guy she's been in love with since the summer of 2007. Shocked? I was too. Like more than Adam Sandler in Big Daddy when he learned that McDonald's breakfast ends at 10:30 instead of 11.
You took me for everything that I had,
And kicked me out on my own
Amy first met Theo in the summer of 2001 when she went to Greece. In 2003, they dated while she was there, but nothing serious developed. They had been keeping in touch since that first summer, and when Amy went to Greece in the summer of 2007, they fell in love. Since last summer, they've talked daily. They both have web cams set up in their rooms. When Amy went to Greece this summer, the plan was to get engaged. That happened July 3.
Are you happy, are you satisfied
How long can you stand the heat
Amy kept her romance a secret for the entire year. She only told Christina, who also was able to keep the secret. Pretty impressive, really. The reason? She knew people would be skeptical of the long-distance relationship. I don't blame her. The wedding is in Greece in 2010. I won't be attending, though. It's in another country, after all.
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat
I didn't think anything of it at the time, but Amy's engagement made us realize something else. In the summer of 2007, the group made a bet on when Christina would get engaged. I picked January 2008 and won. At the meeting where I collected, Christina suggested we start another bet: Of the single people in our group, who will be the next to get engaged. The choices would have been Greg, Amy, Kevin and myself. We didn't make the bet, but obviously Christina was looking to make a quick buck. Shame. Shame. Shame.
Another one bites the dust (4x)
Coming in Friday's blog: Updates on Christina, Amanda and how I felt about being the only single person at the Yat-Together.

THE TINA CURSING CORNER
My mom still is not happy about the venting system in our house. "It's so fucking hot back here. The fucking room doesn't consist to the house."

MOVIE REVIEW: PINEAPPLE EXPRESS
What I was expecting: A fast-paced comedy journey with a lot of weed jokes.
What I liked: Seth Rogen. I don't think Rogen is laugh-out-loud funny. But he has a certain charm that I enjoy. I really think he needs to do a movie not written by himself or that involves Judd Apatow. He needs to branch out; I think he can do it. ... I thought the hectic pace worked. I got a Pulp Fiction of comedy vibe from the film. ... The final fight sequence was pretty sweet (as was the foot in the window). And funny, for a change. ... SPOILER ALERT: I was glad Rogen and the girl didn't hook it up at the end. It's refreshing to see the main guy in a comedy not end up with the girl at the end. Plus, they didn't belong together.
What I didn't like: The character Red was pointless. He wasn't funny. He bored me. Had a good role in the final fight scene, but he should have been dead. ... There was no music in the movie. Didn't get that. ... The first scene with Dale and Saul took forever. And ever. .... This and other comedies are putting too much cursing in the film. It's only funny a few times, not every other word. ... They missed a weed joke in the final scene.
The result: Two feet of Gene Pool water.

THE GENE POOL DIP (I MEAN TIP) OF THE WEEK
Don't buy a movie on DVD when it comes out. Most new movies at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. are $14.99 or $19.99. That is so ridiculous. I don't understand how people spend that kind of money on one movie. It's only two hours of entertainment. Instead, wait for a sale. If the movie gained any kind of popularity at the theatre, it will soon be on sale for 7 or 8 bucks. If not, after a certain period of time, the price will drop to 9.99. Another option is to go to a rental place. They have deals on used movies all the time. But, please, don't fall victim to this outrageous charge any longer. Don't even get me started on the Blu-ray prices.

Uh, we were stuck after No. 8.
8. Gene Washington.
