Katie's wedding was Saturday night, and let's just say it was the best wedding I've ever been to next to a soy bean field.
The wedding was at Katie's parents house, which is like the peninsula version of expansive fields, instead of water. The house is surrounded by fields to the front, back and right.
So it made for a unique wedding, with the wedding and reception in the same place and no real time limit to the party. The wedding was at 4, dinner at 6ish, the band from 7-10:30ish and a iPod mix until 1:15 a.m.
The bride was beautiful and energetic throughout the night, despite what seemed like an endless amount -- and I mean like way more than normal -- of pictures. The night was almost as beautiful, with only a few drops of rain early in the evening.
Here are the pictures I took.
Bob was the officiant, and he and James wait here for the rest of the bridal party to make its way from the house to the ceremony. Bob was a master of ceremonies. "Welcome one and all who have come from near and far."
Katie's father was a bad ass. Not only was he proud and happy for his daughter, but the man did a tumbleset on the dance floor. A tumbleset.
Alternate caption to Bob reading the vows: "Thank you all for being here. I would like to take this opportunity to speak about the importance of grammar."
Selfies may have been replaced by usies as done here by Jenna and Joe. But here I give you the themsie. Me taking a picture of them taking their picture.
James' first dance with his mom was Wind Beneath My Wings. Thought this was so cute that Katie's little cousins swayed along.
The band was spectacular. James met the lead singer in college around 2002.
They played mostly older rock songs, including several Beatles, CCR and other classics like Ain't No Sunshine. Plus, there was Weezer's Say it Ain't So and the Peppers' Under the Bridge.
The first dance was an amazing rendition of John Legend's All of Me done by Postmodern Jukebox. Probably the best first dance I've seen at a wedding, highlighted by a double spin manuever executed masterfully by the couple. He spun her like normal, but then she came out of her spin and spun him.
That's all for Saturday's pictures. Hopefully, much more to come from this trip, and that night, soon.
